Materials in this collection include meeting minutes (original and microfilm), correspondence, charters and by-laws, committee files, and congressional documents relating to the University. These materials range in date from 1821 to 2003 and includes early correspondence going back to the 1820's, biographical information on Trustees, and the physical development of the University and evolution of schools and departments. Elmer Kayser's book on the history of the University, "Bricks Without Straw" was based on information found in the Board of Trustees records. The material was transferred to the University Archives by the Board of Trustees and the University Historian.
